On Nov 14,  2020, a video of an elderly man diving to save a girl from drowning has been broadcast across China. In the video, the old man did not hesitate to dive to save people’s action, which attracted Chinese netizens’ praise. It has been confirmed that the sixty one years old man is Mr. Stephen Ellison, the incoming Consul General of the British Consulate General in Chongqing, China.

A video taken by netizens showed a girl playing by a river in Zhongshan ancient town, Chongqing, China. Her feet slipped and fell into the water. She struggled for several seconds and then floated on the water. At this time, a foreign old man who passed by the river did not hesitate to jump into the water to rescue. He held up the girl with one hand and rowed hard to the shore. At the same time, the masses on the shore threw down a life buoy, and finally, with the efforts of all, the girl was rescued safely. As a result of timely rescue, the girl quickly recovered breathing and consciousness, no major obstacle.

Mr. Stephen Ellison was taken good care of by local Chinese villagers after he landed. The villagers brought him hot coffee to warm up and find dry clothes to change. Mr. Stephen Ellison expressed his thanks for this.
